 REPORTS

12th DECEMBER

The REBELS took on Summerseat who they had beaten previously 6 – 1 at home, and made hard work of beating them again this time 3 – 1 Reece Walsh and Charlie Bewsey scored the goals  both have a 100% record and have scored in every game this season League and Cup It was a tough game to win and the lads should have won by a lot more but again we squandered chances in front of goal but nevertheless its 3 points again that we got which now gives us a 6 point lead at the top albeit 2 games more than second placed Unsworth  it is now up to the others in the league to catch us . I am absolutely delighted with the lads and how they are beginning to gel as a team now and at times yesterday we played excellent football and the movement off the ball was equally good i`m hoping that we maintain this form right throughout the rest of the season and on this form promomtion is  looking a dead cert so as they say onwards and upwards Our next game before the Christmas break is at home to Elton & Walshaw Lynx and i am hoping to play this game on the new 3g pitch at Our Ladys School Alworth Road Blackley m9 0rp Why dont you all come along and watch this game and spur the lads on to hopefully another 3 points

28th NOVEMBER

The REBELS were back in action today and it didnt take them long to get back to winning ways with a resounding 8 – 1 victory over a spirited Radcliffe Junior Blues side with goals from Reece Walsh (4) Steven Ledjon , Charlie Bewsey (2) & Callum McDonagh I am very happy that the lads responded to last weeks disappointment and they went about taking apart Radcliffe from the start and made up for missed oppertunitys from last week and should of scored a lot more today but its points we are after and thats why i am happy that we have another 3 points in the bag We still need to tweek up certain areas of our game and we will work on that in training this week also i would like to congratulate Steve Ledjon & Reece Walsh for earning a joint M O T D  they are beginning to dominate in there positions and really are getting better every week WELL DONE BOYS

CUP GAME 21st NOVEMBER

The REBELS took on Middleton Lads Blues from the A division  which is two divisions above them in the NorthBury League and showed that there is no difference in class between them . The REBELS played there typical all action no nonsense football straight from the KO and totally outplayed Middleton from the start Chance after chance came the REBELS way but it just wasnt happening for them Up stepped Bewsey who scored his trademark goal with a great strike from outside the box 1 – 0 Second half started much the same REBELS pressing forward wave after wave then Walsh scored a strikers goal by popping it into the bottom corner to make it 2 – 0 After that goal i think the naivity showed in the REBELS which proved to be costly in the end as we lost 3-2 i would`nt  say that Middleton were the deserved winners on the day but they showed that thev were equally determined to progress further in this competition and thats what i meant by naivity on our part all our players got carried away with leading and forget the basics of sticking with there man ,As in previous weeks when the REBELs have scored they go on to get a lot more goals and thats where we have to learn to stick to our game right through to the end regardless of the scoreline , but that is football and we will just build on this experience and we will come back stronger in our remaining games of that i am very confident  I would like to say that in the first half every player deserved the   M O T M award but the overall award went to Charlie Jones who was outstanding in net and pulled off some really quality saves and this performance will do his confidence the world of good WELL DONE CHARLIE

31st October

The REBELS took on an inform Ramsbottom United side and this proved to be a stern test for the Green Machine. At half time it was still 0-0 but in fairness both sides had good chances to break the deadlock namely from the opposition who broke clear and had only Charlie to beat who somehow managed to get his fingertips to it, and it shaved the post for a corner. That was probably there best and only chance after that. The REBELS came out for the second half ready to go again and this is where all the fitness training is beginning to make the difference for us it was non stop pressure from the REBELS who found the net within 10 minutes of the restart and then added 2 more in quick succession We even had 3 penalties in 15 minutes such was the dominance scoring 2 of them with the keeper pulling of  an incredible save that even the great Gordan Banks would of been proud of (managers son missed so got too make it look like the keeper pulled off a worldy) The game turned sour after that with there manager being a big suck and a poor loser he said some terrible things to his lads such as  STUD HIM    GO  THROUGH HIM  fortunately for his sake none of the lads got hurt .The game finished 5-0 and sadly there manager refused to shake the  extremely handsome REBEL managers hand  at the end but the very happy  REBELS manager couldn`t care less  as the Green Machine is now gathering momentum BRING IT ON

24th OCTOBER

The REBELS march on again with another win this time against Wardle & Smithybridge who shipped 11 goals today without reply with goals from Man Of The Match Reece Walsh ,Charlie Bewsey, Callum McDonagh and his first goals for the REBELS Niall Murray well done boys really proud of you all keep it up

17th OCTOBER

The Green Machine rolls on with another convincing win over a strong Summerseat team who came to have a go,and the REBELS responded superbly by storming into a five goal lead before half time with goals from Hotshot striker  Reece Walsh 2, who has scored in every game with Beswey and McDonagh also maintaining there record of scoring in every game so far, further strikes followed from Ledjon and a great solo run and goal from McGowan .Not to be outdone Summerseat scored a cracker from a disputed freekick the final score was 6-1 REBELS

10th October

The REBELS maintained there 100% start to the season with a 10-2 win against a strong Marauders Phoenix side who took the lead from a well placed free kick that Jones managed to get his hands too but couldn`t keep out.The lads responded immediately with  a determined run on goal by Walsh who finished superbly  1-1  The REBELs went in 2-1 up but found themselves level within 5 minutes of the second half, with a good strike that Jones had no chance with. This was the Marauders downfall because it just spurred the lads into playing good passing football that totally outclassed the Marauders with wave after wave of attack that resulted in a further  8 goals and saw hatricks for Walsh,& Bewsey with McDonagh,Yopa,Pam wading in with strikes and a cracker from the ever improving Moore who clinched the Man Of The Match award for the 2nd time in four games

CUP 1st Round

The REBELS started there cup campaign  with a resounding 13 -2 win against  Wardle & Smithybridge  The rout was started by Walsh who eventually ended up with 5 goals to his name followed by Bewsey with a hatrick .McDonagh,Ledjon and Yopa chipped in with goals .It was a great day for the manager to let the lads enjoy themselves he even had the luxury of letting both keepers play out and be on the other side of the posts for a change as strikers. Morris showed great technique in showing the strikers how to finish with two great strikes and the unlucky Jones smashed the ball into the back of the net only for the ref to blow up for offside  unlucky to say the least and thats how it finished 13-2, the REBELs are now safely into the next round

The Sponsored Walk 23rd January 2010

The REBELS would like to thank Manchester United ,Manchester City, Oldham Athletic & Rochdale AFC for their co-operation in making the walk a successful occasion and by donating a signed ball which will be auctioned off at a later date to raise much needed funds for the under 12s Blackpool Trip (Pat & Dave) Special thanks to Sean Gregan (Oldham Captain) for taking time out before the Millwall game to pose for photos with the REBELS
